Russie – Japon : Limites du dialogue russo-japonais

Le Japon paraît avoir tiré les conclusions des entretiens Abe-Poutine du mois de janvier 2019 1. La Russie a clairement signifié à ses dirigeants qu’il n’était pas question de leur céder des îlots du sud de l’archipel des Kouriles tant que leur pays serait lié aux États-Unis par un traité de sécurité. Le Premier ministre japonais a compris qu’un tel transfert n’aurait pas lieu du temps de son mandat qui expire en 2021.

Russia has clearly signaled to its leaders that there is no question of giving them islands in the south of the Kuril archipelago as long as their country would be bound to the United States by a security treaty. The Japanese Prime Minister understood that such a transfer would not take place during his term of office, which expires in 2021.
