Mer de Chine du Sud – Malaisie – Chine : Crise sur prétention malaisienne à plateau continental étendu

Le 12 décembre 2019, la Malaisie surprend tout le monde en présentant devant la Commission des limites du Plateau continental (CLCS*) de l’ONU, une prétention (présentée comme une « information ») à extension de plateau continental mesuré à partir des lignes de base droites de l’État de Sabah. Ce qui vaut, comme attendu, une vive réaction chinoise. Mais derrière ce qui apparaît être une provocation plutôt qu’une réelle prétention peut se présumer un plan judicieux.

On the 12th of December 2019 Malaysia took everybody by surprise by submitting to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS), of the UN, its claim (entitled “an information”) for an extended continental shelf measured from the baselines of the State of Sabah. That, as expected, caused a strong reaction from China. But behind what appears to be a kind of provocation from Malaysia towards Chine may be guessed as a smart scheme.
