Chine : l’arrestation du président d’Interpol ou la mise à mort du soft power chinois

La disparition de Meng Hongwei, le président chinois d’Interpol fin septembre 2018 avait soulevé une indignation mondiale. La déclaration par Pékin de sa condamnation pour corruption semble relever presque du phénomène rituel. Cette affaire montre que, pour la Chine, le regard occidental sur le pays ne saurait limiter de quelque manière le but ultime de « stabilité » du régime. 

The disappearance of Meng Hongwei, the Chinese president of Interpol, at the end of September 2018 had raised a global indignation. Beijing’s statement of its conviction for corruption seems almost to be a ritual phenomenon. This case shows that, for China, the Western view on the country should not in any way limit the ultimate goal of the “stability” of the regime.
