Timor joue Australie et Chine

Le 20 mai 2022, Timor-Est ou Timor-Leste, célébrait simultanément le vingtième anniversaire de son indépendance, de sa Constitution et, pour la seconde fois, la prise de fonction de José Ramos-Horta à la présidence du pays à laquelle il a été élu (soutenu par le Congrès national de reconstruction timoraise, CNRT, contre le FRETILIN) avec 62 % des voix. Un président qui, tout en entendant maintenir des relations équilibrées avec l’Australie, paraît peu susceptible de rebuter Pékin dans ses avances.

On May 20, 2022, East Timor – Timor Leste – simultaneously celebrated the twentieth anniversary of its independence, its Constitution and, for the second time, the assumption of office of José Ramos-Horta as President of the country to which he was elected (supported by the National Timorese Reconstruction Congress, NTRC, against FRETILIN)) with 62% of the vote. A president who, while intending to maintain balanced relations with Australia, seems unlikely to repel Beijing in its advances.
