Sri Lanka : Questions sur les attentats du jour de Pâques

Les attentats qui ont frappé trois églises à Colombo, Negombo et Batticaloa sur la côte est de l’île le 21 avril 2019, jour de Pâques, ainsi que trois hôtels de luxe dans la capitale ont fait 259 victimes. Les autorités du pays ont immédiatement accusé un groupuscule islamiste, le National Thowheed Jamath, d’avoir perpétré ces attaques et ont procédé à toute une série d’arrestations dans les rangs de cette organisation. La poursuite de l’enquête a par ailleurs prouvé que deux des terroristes ayant actionné une bombe dans les hôtels étaient les fils d’un des entrepreneurs musulmans les plus riches de Sri Lanka. Deux jours plus tard, les massacres ont été revendiqués par l’État islamique (EI).

The country’s authorities immediately accused a small Islamist group, the National Thowheed Jamath, of carrying out the attacks and carried out a series of arrests in the organization’s ranks. Further investigation has also shown that two of the terrorists who bombed the hotels were the sons of one of Sri Lanka’s richest Muslim entrepreneurs. Two days later, the massacres were claimed by the Islamic State (IS).
