Thaïlande : élections 2019, incertitude totale

Depuis 2006, la Thaïlande a connu des temps troublés avec les coups d’État et la mort d’un roi vénéré et stabilisateur. Après plus de quatre années de quasi dictature militaire et l’avènement d’un nouveau roi, les élections générales vont déterminer l’orientation que va prendre la seconde économie de l’Asie du Sud-Est. La donne, nouvelle à plus d’un titre, conduit à des scénarios fortement contrastés.

Since 2006, Thailand has experienced troubled times with coups and the death of a revered and stabilizing king. After more than four years of near military dictatorship and the advent of a new king, the general elections will determine the direction that will take the second economy of Southeast Asia. The deal, new in more ways than one, leads to highly contrasted scenarios.

Pakistan  : Imran Khan moins docile pour Pékin

Imran Khan, le nouveau Premier ministre du Pakistan promet un mode de gouvernement plus démocratique pour redresser une économie défaillante. Un réajustement des relations avec la Chine – maître d’ouvrage du corridor économique – sera un test d’autorité personnelle auquel Pékin devrait se prêter.

Imran Khan, Pakistan’s new Prime minister, promises a more democratic mode of government to redress a failing economy. A readjustment of relations with China – the in fact contracting authority of the economic corridor – will be a test of personal authority to which Beijing should lend itself.
