La note verbale commune adressée à l’ONU le 16 septembre 2020 par l’Allemagne, la France et le Royaume uni, pour défendre l’intégrité du droit de la mer en mer de Chine du Sud, a été saluée par la presse du monde libre comme un acte de courage des trois grands européens face au refus insistant de Pékin de se conformer au dit droit dans l’espace marin concerné. Cet élan d’enthousiasme a malheureusement conduit à une interprétation partiellement erronée de l’initiative européenne.
The verbal note conveyed to the United Nations on September 2020 the 16th by Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, in order to defend the integrity of the law of the Sea in the South China Sea, has been hailed by the free world’s press as an act of courage from the part of the three European bigs in front of Peking insistent refusal to abide by that law over the concerned area. That burst of enthusiasm has unfortunately lead to a partially distorted interpretation of the European initiative.
